IAW
Assalaamu Alaikum :)
It is Islam Awareness Week at York University and I was helping with a friend to direct people to the pretty displays that were up. I didn't have my camera or I would have taken some pictures of it. They provided everyone with free books, pamphlets and two men were there, who were skilled in Arabic Calligraphy :)
That's right. I had my name written in Arabic as well. I needed a sample piece to walk around with and try to direct the students to where the action was.
And yes, when Squeeky begins to go on a blog-a-thon ... it means that she is preventing herself from studying :(

Anything to prevent one's self from studying. ANYTHING!!
Ahem, now that that's out: that's a good idea for IAW. We had someone do that for ours too, but she made bookmarks for people, which was cool :)
Yeah, probably the only cool thing about our IAW. But don't take my word for it.
Tommorow its in Vari Hall :o! Just so you know.
with all due respect, and no offense to whoever was doing that, but the three white people in my arabic language class can write better arabic than that.
(gotta love the fatah and the kasra under the raa)
I haven't seen or been part of an IAW in quite some time now... it's one of the most important events any MSA could do during the year yet also one of the least-looked-forward-to events unfortunately.
Anytime daw'ah efforts are established, only good things can come and that's where IAW is very beneficial.
I have my camera with me today I'm going to try to take some pics (if I'm in that direction)! My plan is to take many pictures before school is over. So far I haven't taken one..
I should also be working "sigh"... my essay is dragging.
I love that profile pic of the mendhi - you do it really nicely.
Assalaamu Alaikum :D
Asmaa:
I need to ban myself from the internet, that's what I need to do.
the cool one aka weebee:
It looks great and right smack in the middle of everyone haha
Umar:
You know, I was going to ask about that too. I found the second guy to be much more skilled ... didn't have time to ask him to write my brother's name.
Are you taking the Arabic class at York? Is Ghadda Jayyusi-Lehn your prof by any chance?
ahy:
Why is there a "y" in my name?! *grr* How have you been, long time.
Nauman:
Definitely a good form of Da'wah. Though to be honest, I wasn't too impressed with the signs put up for this IAW. If only I was active enough, I could have made some real pretty ones :D ones that actually stand out to the people. In any case, may Allah Swt bless each and every one who helped out, ameen.
WEEBEE - remember getting the Who Is Jesus pamphlet in return? hahaha
'liya:
Oh goodie, hope you get some real nice pics and are able to post them :) And I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who's taking random pictures of York! I need to make a special folder for my memories :D
And thank you!
yup, thats the one.
arb1000 with ghada
Umar:
Aww, she's my Arab Culture prof. I used to be scared of her all year up until now, she's quite interesting haha And speaks in Arabic most of the time :S
This is a test for Rafoo baji. If I am indeed the cool one then this comment will get posted.
i took arab culture last year
it was a really good class, and i was one of her favorite students (she always needed help either with the projecter or computer)
yay! i think its gonna work now!
here's an idea for IAW: have someone doing free mehendi as well. Pretty effective way to attract people, even non-Muslims.
emu from the land downunder:
In the flier, it did say that mehndi would be done as well but I don't remember anyone applying it. If I had some left over mehndi, I would have done it myself :)
Umar:
Ohhh we have one of those in our class haha poor guy, sits all the way at the back and has to rush up to the front to help her out
I got my name written too and it was different than how I'm used to writing it in Arabic :S
its a nice design, though.
