Out Of One's Control

Assalaamu Alaikum :)

I decided to take a trip with my mother to her weekly specialist appointments. My mother doesn't have the greatest of health, may Allah Swt bless her with good health soon. She suffers from muscle spasms over her entire back and has to get about 15 - 20 (maybe even more) needles at a time in order to freeze/numb the muscles so that she does not feel as much pain. Not just once a week ... she goes twice a week. Alhamdulillah, Allah Swt has blessed my mother with such strength ... only she knows the pain she endures and the way she is able to handle it all, it is just simply amazing. It's just a very hard thing for a daughter to see her mother go through such pain on a daily basis.

Anyways, the specialist she goes to is a very nice man, masha'Allah. He is a Chinese doctor and is always interested in speaking with my parents, especially my father. My dad is the type to always start up some type of conversation haha It's interesting. My parents talk to him about religion often too. He always shows interest in Islam. He is a bit familiar with it because he used to have a Muslim roommate.

It just so happened that during his hoidays, he cut his right hand very badly from glass. He must have cut an artery and due to that, he has a pretty long splinter attached to his arm to keep his hand steady. Because of this inconvenience, it is really affecting his work because he has to do everything with his left hand. When my parents were speaking with him, he was asking my parents to pray for him, that his hand gets better. He says, "Allah will listen to your prayers, right? You pray 5 times a day, He will listen?" Aww ...

It's amazing how an individual's routine changes in an instant due to an accident which is out of one's control. Especially a doctor's hand which is vital for their profession. Subhana'Allah, how vulnerable my mum's specialist may be feeling because everything for him has remarkably slowed down. In one instant, Allah Swt can take so much away from a person and in another, bless them with so much more.

You really don't know what the next day will bring you or where it will take you ... this is why I feel we should always be thankful to Allah Swt for everything He (swt) has provided us with. May Allah Swt only bring us happiness and comfort in everything we do, ameen.

P.S. - HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASMAA!!

One time I was at this Chinese doctor with my mother who was complaining of a slew of ailments.

And the doctor says, 'I think it's because you have too much stress. He gives you a lot of stress doesn't he? I bet he leaves his clothes all over the floor in his room'

'YES YES DOCTOR HE DOES!'

I never took her back to that doctor.

We never know what will happen..
Your mom really has been blessed with such strength to deal with her condition. And she has a sweet caring daughter to be with her :) InshAllah she'll get well soon.

That's pretty cool about your doctor. It's great that he shows an interest in Islam. Like I said, we never know what will happen..

Nice Post!

You mother reminds me of mine, lol. She's the most awesome/cutest/funniest/loving woman that walks the earth today, hands down! And everyone in my family loves her, but only she knows what she goes through. Not everyone is willing to get up at 3 in the morning (6 days a week) to go to work for the sake of Allah.

But yeah.....may Allah make it easy for your mother.

And Eid Mubarak!

May Allah (swt) grant your mother patience! It's hard to see either of your parents going through pain without being able to help. But you know, pain negates bad deeds. If you're going through an illness and it gives you hardship, your bad deeds get erased because of it. That's amazing...

Awww I was mentioned in Rafia's post, I feel special, yay! Hehe, Eid Mubarak.

hehe Of course I had to mention you, silly! And that's the beauty of Allah Swt's mercy ... when one endures such pain, your bad deeds are being taken away, insha'Allah. I try to remind my mother of that :) Eid Mubarak to you as well
