A Possible Strike? ... NoOoOo

Assalaamu Alaikum :D

Hello lovely people of the blogworld. How are my fans doing today? I do have fans, right ...? *sigh* Anyways, I'm in a dilemma. Okay well it's nothing too extravagent but enough to be a dilemma. The Teacher Assistants of York U may just go on strike! *gasps from all over the world* I know, I know, what shall we ever do. There is a big possibility that there will not be an actual strike. Every 3 years, apparently, the TA's get together with the big people and discuss their needs. Last time they did this, there were major conflicts that the board of York could not find themselves to meet the needs of the TA's. For example, tuition fees. What they are asking is once the asked tuition fee is paid, the TA's should be able to receive most of that money, in the form of bursaries. That strike occured when my sister attended York and it was the longest in all of the universities. So, I believe this week there will be a vote taken by the TA's whether or not they are satisfied with what the board has concluded for them. If there is a higher vote on "no", it doesn't mean that they will follow with a strike right away. It only means that if the TA's get the higher number, it gives them a dominating opportunity to, in a sense, make the board see things their way haha It is more likely that a fitting decision will be made and life can go on happily ... tra la la ... but if not, and the board decides that these issues they are having cannot be dealt with, a strike will occur! And that means, most classes will not be in session, and that means, I will miss out on school, and THAT means, I'm gonna freak. This is what happens when you're a goodie good, irrelevant things like this start to itch at you ... *sigh* ...

Honestly, I would not mind that much if there is a strike but I really don't want to miss out on all those days of school and have an extra month added to my school year. We pay so much money to attend these classes ... SO MUCH money and then to leave us in the cold like that? It's not very nice, especially since I don't like the cold. So if anything ... I'll find out the verdict in about a week.

Other than that, life is beautiful alhamdulillah. Ramadan is going so great! This month just brings out so much happiness in me, and each day I feel my imaan strengthening. Insha'Allah, you all are experiencing the same.

NOTE: my hand is doing okay :( poor little thing (it got cut by a knife ... I hate you knife!)

bandaid
And yes, that is a Simpsons bandaid

I'd actually like a strike because then I could catch up on everything I'm putting off doing.. like all the stuff I had planned to get done during the Jewish holidays we had off but I never did.. but I only want a WEEK off, nothing more cause I'm a nerd and love school too :D

P.S I didn't know you had an older sister who went to York! Good to hear that your Ramadan is going well :)

haha This is Squeeky we're talking about. Ok well what happened was, I was putting the dishes away in the dishwasher. I put a knife in and then moments later I went to put in other utensils with it, when all of a sudden, somehow, my hand collided with the knife :O It was ... horrible.
Kababo:
Oh my gosh I know! Bummer, indeed. Do you know how much it stings when it's under water? Ouchies. And that Simpsons bandaid only stayed for a night haha cuz I can't really pray salaah with it on.

I think I just became a fan...

I think it'd be nice if Ryerson had a strike - I could use some time off - because even if they did add an extra month, I probably would skip most of my classes anyways. :)

Okay, it's been clearly established that 'liya is NOT Jewish... leave the poor girl alone. :)

The art to skipping class can only be passed from one person to another through rigorous training. It all starts with convincing yourself that you have better things to do... even if you really don't have anything better to do. :)

ahahahaa..

THIS is the reason I didnt go to York.

I remember that last strike they had, when I was in Gr 12 / 13 (in 4th year at UTM now)... and this strike was the number one reason I was ignoring even the York info sessions.

Apparently, all the students got screwed because the university wouldnt make up for lost time (by extending the term) or something.

Good luck coping with it ...

OH MY GOODNESS LEAVE YORK ALONE!

haha I remember the strike in the past, my sis was there at the time and I tagged along with her to the campus for some reason. The very next day the strike was lifted muahaha I'm sure I helped with that ... somehow ... ok fine maybe not. My sis loved the strike for some reason, they didnt have to do the exams.

Anyways, this strike doesn't mean it's going to happen! yeesh, eventho the vote was yes to a strike if negotiations weren't done to their interest. Soooooo ....

Insha'Allah it wont happen :D
