Sorry Pluto ...

The news is out, Pluto, the last planet in our Solar System has been stripped down of its status! *gasp* For further reading, please review the article presented in The Star. Due to the new criteria of what a planet must consist of ... Pluto just did not make the cut. Instead they demoted it to a separate category, "dwarf planets".
Much-maligned Pluto doesn't make the grade under the new rules for a planet: "a celestial body that is in orbit around the sun, has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a ... nearly round shape, and has cleared the neighbourhood around its orbit." - The Star
I'm sad and a little disappointed. Not too sure why because Pluto wasn't really one of my favourite planets so I never gave it much attention. I am more of a Saturn girl but Pluto was like the baby of the family! How could they do such a thing :( Silly astronomers ...
I think the main root of my sadness is because the Planet song I learned in elementary school will be changed a bit now. Let me sing it for you ... *ehem* ...
Mercury, Venus, Earth & Mars
They are planets, they're not stars
Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus too
Neptune, Pluto, then we're through
la la la la
I guess now, we're through after Neptune *sigh*

Pluto must be a big baby considering it was discovered in around 1930 which makes it atleast 76 years old.. Your post has inspired me to research on the lady who named the Planet. haha check this out: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4596246.stm
Don't you ever hope to discover your own planet some day that we could all hopefully move to in the distant future. haha remember the episode where Bart discovers the comet approaching Springfield (dunno if u noticed but Waldo is also in the bomb shelter with the rest of the characters)
Anyway I don't know if you remember but i posed the question about animals n stuff like mice and rats and well racoons haha which seem to run around about whether or not they would join us in heaven and i heard that they would not cause they don't have a soul and only souls can go to heaven.. i guess thats a good thing *breathes sigh of relief*
On an unrelated note, my friend was able to purchase Muslim Day tickets for Ontario Place so atlast its confirmed!!
Oh also seeing that your all interested in desserts n stuff i went to some dawat yesterday and the food was pretty good but what was more delicious was this reeealy cool dessert I had. You can try to make some if it interests you and if you haven't tried it out already. It looked like a cake, so when you take a piece of this cake and put it in your plate (mine was blue) you realize its not just cake but it has ice cream in it!! Isn't that just a marvelous idea. As well it has chunks of chocolate in it. I decided to call it Ice Cream Cake. But what sucks is that when I told my friend about my wonderful evening and the delicous dessert she kinda told me that the official name given to the dessert is already ice cream cake and that its quite the popular, Baskin Robbins sells it hmm which i guess is a little sad cause i thought i had named a dessert but then it was named already. But ya if you havent cooked it yet try it out! Maybe you can give it your hydro twist heh

There's always been debate on whether Pluto was actually a planet or not. But think about it, whether we label it as such or not, doesn't actually change what it is. At all. So don't worry :)
Nono Its a good song!!! I learned it too.. Raf just doesnt have a good singing voice..(Sorry Raf but gota speak the truth)

I was thinking of writing a blog entry on the same thing actually... oh well.
My favourite planet was once Saturn until everyone seemed to find it interesting so now my favourite planet is Neptune - the last planet in our solar system and one that doesn't get much attention. I could have picked Uranus but I hate the name (haha). Uranus and Neptune are the only planets that I've never seen in the nightsky (since they're not visible with the naked eye). Perhaps the coolest to see are Mercury and Venus...

Nono I felt this one was reeeealy well written so if someone else would write one it would be difficult to match it. Anyway I've noticed that you have not updated your blog in a whole week and I have reached two conclusions. (Originally 3 I thought something really bad happened two you but you just commented so now i know ur alive) but i thought that A) something interesting has not happened and you do not have anything to say B) soo many things are happening and you are just not getting the time to talk about the important things which are occuring.
Oh btw just to fill you in about Muslim Day, it ended up going really well I met enuff people of the community I knew. The Muslim stalls werent very good though and too many hijabis kept looking at me and doing that thing where they whisper something in each others ears and do that cute little giggle. The DOWN part of the day was when one of my pizza slices fell DOWN (haha get it.. sorry im lame today)
